SJCA MASK POLICY
Dr. Eric Denton

The following board-approved policy has been created in response to the high number of students and staff who have recently tested positive for COVID-19, and it will be in effect until October 11, 2021, at which point it will be re-evaluated.

  • All parents and visitors will be required to wear masks upon entering the school during the school day (7:30 AM until 3:15 PM).
  • All students and staff will wear masks in common areas, such as the hallways, and any time social distancing requirements cannot be maintained.
  • All students, staff, and visitors are strongly encouraged to wear masks to noncompulsory, indoor events such as volleyball and basketball games and encouraged to wear them at noncompulsory outdoor events, such as football games.

DHEC has recently changed their requirements for identifying indoor close contacts.  Anyone 6’ or more away from an infected person is not considered a close contact.  Anyone closer than 3’ is a close contact.  Those within 3’-6’ who are wearing masks are not close contacts and will not have to quarantine as long as the infected person is wearing a mask.  Therefore, students, staff, and visitors must all wear masks when they are within 6’ of others.  This will greatly reduce our need to quarantine students.
