Our Mission is to promote academic excellence and foster spiritual growth through a college preparatory curriculum in a Christian environment.
Our story begins in 1965 when Lord Berkeley Academy was established, serving Moncks Corner and Berkeley County until 1998. Known for academic and athletic success, it produced graduates who later sent their children to St. John’s Christian Academy. In late 1997, Lord Berkeley Academy's Board of Directors decided to become a Christian school. With the help of individuals from First Baptist Church, they adopted the name "St. John’s Christian Academy" in honor of a colonial parish. A formal dedication in July 1998 marked the change.
In August 1998, SJCA opened with 140 students, and the first graduating class was in 1999. Enrollment grew rapidly, and SJCA expanded its academic programs, texts, and competitions.Today, SJCA is a nondenominational, independent, Christian school with over 450 students, ranked #1 among private schools in Berkeley County for four years. We emphasize academic excellence, spiritual growth, and have received accreditations.
Our strong student and alumni base spans four generations, including graduates committed to serving their communities and their Lord, Jesus Christ. Our mission is unwavering, partnering with local churches to build the kingdom of God.We cherish our history and look forward to the future. SJCA practices open enrollment without discrimination based on race, religion, or national origin.
